Aero the Osprey

Our mascot, Aero the Osprey — often referred to as a Riverhawk — is a powerful bird that soars above rushing rivers with strength, sharp vision, and unshakable focus. The osprey doesn’t hunt alone; it thrives in harmony with the world around it, trusting its instincts and rising above every challenge.

Just like the osprey, the Riverhawks rise together—grounded in faith, united in purpose, and driven by a spirit that never quits. We’re more than teammates; we’re a family strengthened by trust, hard work, and the belief that God guides every step we take.

When you wear the Riverhawk name, you carry the pride of a team that soars higher together—lifting each other up, facing life’s currents with courage, and striving for greatness on and off the court.

Where is Triana?

Triana is in you.

Triana, which means “land between rivers,” isn’t just a place on a map — it’s a place in your heart.

Life’s rivers — pressures, changes, and challenges — flow all around us. But Jesus is our Triana, the solid ground between those rushing waters.
In Him, you find stillness, strength, and peace.
In Him, you rest and quietly thrive.
He is not just the calm in the storm — He is the ground beneath your feet when everything else is moving.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”— Psalm 23:2–3

You Have to Live in Triana to Be a Riverhawk

Just like that steady land, basketball here is more than a game — it’s a place of peace, focus, and healing for boys and girls ages 7 to 14. It’s where the noise quiets, and you find your balance.

No matter where you’re from — Madison, Harvest, Huntsville, or beyond — if you’re ready to put in the work, grow your skills, and be part of a team that supports one another, you’re welcome here.

At Triana Riverhawks, we believe in:

  • Using basketball as a path to personal growth and peace

  • Developing skill and teamwork through hard work and dedication

  • Building a community where every player matters and belongs

This is your steady ground — a place to catch your breath, build strength, and rise.

Coach Cotton

A newspaper article with a photograph of a basketball player shooting a basket, with another player defending. The headline reads "Co-District 4-4A Champs" and the subheading states "Dragons secure share of district title for first time since 1988." The article discusses a basketball game and the team's championship victory.

Born and raised in Louisiana, Coach Cotton fell in love with basketball early on. He played at every level except professionally, but it was what came after the final whistle that inspired this program.

"I know what it’s like to grow up in a single-parent home. I know what it’s like to not be in the position to afford what other players’ parents could. I know what it’s like to not fit in. I know what it’s like to fail. I know what it’s like to quit. And I also know what it’s like to win. Winning starts before the scoreboard reflects more points in your favor."

Basketball gave him confidence when he needed it most. It helped him find his identity and voice during a time when he struggled with bullying and low self-worth. But when the game stopped, he had to rediscover who he was—and that journey drew him closer to God and his true purpose.

Raised in a Baptist church, Coach Cotton has always had a relationship with God. Yet it was through prayer and personal experience that he discovered his calling: to prepare the next generation not just for the game, but for life.

At Triana Riverhawks, we train athletes to excel on the court and equip them for the challenges beyond it. Our approach includes:

  • Defensive and offensive skill development

  • Ball handling, court awareness, and conditioning

  • Mental toughness and leadership training

  • Christian character growth through FCA enrichment

  • Confidence building and positive habit formation
